Year of the Triffids II
And so it was, that my roommates and I (mainly my roommates) planted lots of seeds and small plants;
and the plants became larger, and larger still after being fed wastewater from the fish tanks...the peppers are outrunning the basil, and are downright scary. The horseradish has sprouted and grown 4 inches in 3 days, and last year's sage went and bloomed last month. Some spare green onions from the supermarket have taken root, turned green, and are going bonkers. Even a maple seedling or two are doing ok.
Last year's thyme actually survived and sprouted, and has recovered from pruning quite nicely. Cilantro and oregano have taken over one pot, and a jasmine plant is biding its time in the corner.
Beans were a complete failure, likely due to shortage of quality sun. I've also had a large problem getting sage and thyme clippings to take root; I'm currently 2 for 7 in that department.
So now, it's simply a matter of keeping them watered, occasionally fed, and pruned every once in a while.

Summer has Arrived
So, spring lasted about 4 weeks, and now we're in the upper 80's in Atlanta. And, it's been about forever since my last update. Not much has been going on.
I started to type up a Game 40 Report for the Braves, and I'm glad I didn't. They're currently attempting to hand the NL East to the Mets, Phillies, Padres, Indians, Georgia Tech, Mercer U., and my neighbor's Little League team.
Is it really this easy? All the Phillies and Mets fans had do do was send one of their half-baked pitchers over here, and we can't make it through June? The best thing about this season has been the busted p.a. speakers behind home plate; there's a lack of noise back there, and that's a premium in arenas around here.
The Gladiators made it to the league finals, and lost in 5 games to Alaska. At least they got a win at home.
As a side note: don't take a digital camera into a hockey rink in summertime. Mine cracked an LCD due to the temperature difference. :/
LeBron James and Dirk Nowitski are the real deal. It's been a long time since I've done a double-take at basketball footage, but those two really brought an A-game this year.
And hey, how about that little soccer tournament the Germans are throwing this month? Hopefully we'll be able to score a goal or two before being bounced.
Poker is my "game du jour", and I've been getting my fix at local bar tournaments this spring; since poker has turned into the 'new trivia' for bargames, I can play a tournament every week or two, for the cost of a MARTA token. And as bad a player as I am, this is a good thing.
Exploding Sock Monkey.
while typing this entry, I overheard a wedding planner discussing an upcoming ceremony with a client. Every time I hear one of these discussions, I realize I'm in the wrong business, and that my sister had the best wedding I've seen yet.

Notable Evil of the Week
The NEW award for June 10 goes to _A_ and _B_ of Indiana, who proposed, against advice of just about everyone involved in the "War on Drugs," to spray eye fungus on coca crops in South America. That fungus will never blind peasants, will never adapt to new conditions and become a ubiquitous presence in the Western Hemisphere, and certainly won't make its way north to Indiana, because Indiana is full of God's Chosen White People, and is immune to such pestilence. Here's to you, _A_ and _B_, you evil bastards.
