Sometimes, you have to just pull out the tire iron and crack some skulls. This is my rejected response to a poster in the AJC's blogspace for a story describing how Mayor Franklin's child-peddling campaign is targeting craigslist. This post could have been rejected for any number of reasons, particularly the inclusion of craigslist links in an AJC blogspace. Whatever the reason, it was more of a violation than naming me a pedophile for my objections to both the actions of the Mayor's office and the race card played in their defense; that post still remains in place.

And last I heard of Dateline, one mark shot himself, and several (if not many) cases aren't prosecutable due to that show's interference. But Dateline got their ratings and the bandwagon was glorified, so those nasty details can be excused.
We have kids in this country (boys & girls) that are molested, kidnapped, pimped, raped and murdered and the only thing you can say is "They are falsely characterizing a website"

According to this article, Mayor Franklin did not state that craigslist reflects the community's values. She did not ask anyone to use the functions this website makes available to remove unwanted/illegal services. She did not speculate on whether the various pimps in Atlanta use said functions to remove better ads.

And here's the kicker: this issue doesn't deal with "being watched" on a website. It deals with what a website allows to be posted, where those posts are "being watched" by anyone with a 'net connection and enough motivation to click links. That would be more motivation than you, by the way. You may as well have an "I'm full of shit" sign hung around your neck, because not only are you attacking the critics as criminals (incorrect in itself), but you are doing so in a way that shows your complete ignorance.

Once every few years, I'll roll one of these somewhere online. I don't really like to rub it in to the typewriting monkeys, but this one earned the extra attention. This could very well have been a user of webtv or similar service, based on the funky character conversions (apostrophe and others represented incorrectly is a character set mismatch). As a bonus, I got to test an editorial limit in the process. Fun! :) |
