It was singularly interesting to know, at the time of seating, that I would get 0 VP in the final, and that 2nd and 3rd place were determined by the round 3 results. Four decks (everyone except Oscar) from my first round not only made it to the finals, three of us (Greg, Kelly, and I) were in the same seats, at the same table. I was seated third, with Chris and Greg remaining. The only thing I could do was say "I'm screwed!" and prepare for a no-expectations final.
Chris sat to my right, pursuant to the third round, and Greg sat to my left, pursuant to the first round. My only hope was to wall up, let Oscar get 2VP, Greg get 1, and have enough minions to overrun Greg in the endgame. Around turn 6 or 7, Greg (who's 1-stealth equip and retain actions went unblocked) and I made a deal where Greg wouldn't block my inoffensive actions, and I would just sit there, bouncing the occasional bleed into him. So I got to enchant backwards, and over the course of the game, managed to get 9 minions out, to Greg's 7.
Fortunately for me, and more fortunately for Greg, Chris and Oscar got 100% pure Crypt Screw(tm). Oscar got all 7-cap+, and only pulled out Imogen and Virgil. Chris got all of his 7-caps (Carlotta, Greger, Gilbert, and Mariel) in his uncontrolled, and couldn't Govern down.
Kelly almost got a VP when I bounced a bleed back to Chris, and he couldn't wake another vamp to re-deflect. Kelly was short of conditioning, so there was no bleed of 6. Kelly was gunshy about conditioning all game; maybe I should have told him I wouldn't burn any more of his minions unless he was my predator. Actually, the real kicker came when Kelly, having kept track of what Carlotta was pulling out of Chris' ash heap, correctly observed that Chris had an undiscarded deflection, because the one Chris just played was Jyhad, and the one picked up was Sabbat War.
The biggest mistake I saw at the tourney was when Oscar tapped out with a hand full of bounce/misdirect, no untap, and 5 pool, in front of Greg's 6 minions in the finals. I know what he had, because I Culled his Herd the turn before he was ousted. I don't know what he was doing, really.
So Greg took the opportunity to oust Oscar, then tangled with Kelly for a few turns before ousting again. Chris started looking backwards, but was too weak to hold off Greg's 7-strong assault.
